FReeZA
Love Music?
Want to produce and promote live music events?
South Gippsland Shire Council is looking for dedicated, enthusiatic young people aged 12 to 25 to become members of a FReeZA committee throughout 2016. FReeZA is a Victorian State Government funded initiative that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events in their local communities.
From 2016 to 2018 the FReeZA committee will work on producing, promoting and evaluating, music, art and cultural events for young people within the South Gippsland region. The program is facilitated by South Gippsland Shire Council and local mentors, who coordinate the program and provide relevant resources and support. The FReeZA committee have a budget to work with and will direct the type of events they produce.
What is FReeZA?
The FReeZA program has two main goals. It provides important performance opportunities for local musicians and emerging artists to showcase their talent through competitions such as the Victorian FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands. It also gives young people the opportunity to develop skills in events, music management and promotion and to put on events that they would like to attend.
What can you do?
With the FReeZA Program you will develop skills in a range of areas including:
- Event Management, Promotion and Marketing, Graphic Design
- Video Editing and Production, Artist Liason and Bookings
- Stage Management, Technical and Sound Production
- Budgeting, Sponsorship, Communication including Social Media
What does it involve?
Being a participant in the South Gippsland FReeZA Program requires some time commitments from all committee members. During your time with the program the FReeZA committee will have regular meetings after school hours and to provide up to three events in their community and one regional level event each year.
FReeZA gives participants hands on experience and training in the Australian Music Industry with event management, mentoring and networking opportunities.
