South Gippsland community members, volunteers, community groups and non-profit organisations are encouraged to register for these exciting training opportunities.

Most sessions are FREE, but places are limited.

Choose from two sessions:

  • Saturday 3 May 2.00pm to 5.00pm at Manna Gum Community House, Foster
  • Monday 5 May 6.00pm to 9.00pm at Venus Bay Community Centre

If roads were cut and emergency services delayed, would you know what to do if someone was in need urgent medical assistance?

Choose from two session times on Tuesday 13 May at the Meeniyan Town Hall:

  • 2.00pm to 4.00pm
  • 5.30pm to 7.30pm

Do you want to make your group the best fit for the best volunteers? Join this session to learn how to define roles and create position descriptions that help you get the most out of your volunteers.

Wednesday 18 June from 6.00pm to 7.30pm - Online

Are you eager to secure funding for your projects? This workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn the ins and outs of grant writing.

To build community resilience to natural disasters, South Gippsland Shire Council is funding a limited number of coupons to offer the opportunity to access this self-directed online training through Pheonix Australia – usual cost is $168 per person.

Do you want to learn the skills to support people around you cope with natural disasters?

Psychological First Aid provides participants with knowledge and the practical skills to support individuals in the aftermath of trauma.

Learn the five core principles - promoting safety, calm, efficacy, connectedness, and hope – to help individuals manage distress, stabilise emotions and access resources.

Developed by Phoenix Australia, the course is suitable for both professional and lay helpers working in first responder teams, healthcare, disaster relief, and community settings.

* This course is a self-directed and self-paced learning opportunity that take approximately three-hours to complete. 

Do you want to learn the skills to support people around you cope in difficult times?

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to recognise when people around them are experiencing stress or trauma and gives the skills to offer emotional support and practical coping skills.

Participants will learn how to listen empathetically, provide non-judgmental assistance, and suggest practical coping techniques, whether in personal or professional contexts, while maintaining healthy boundaries.

* This course is a self-directed and self-paced learning opportunity that take approximately 90-minutes to complete.
