1858 Renamed after a ship was beached called The Waratah
1885 Post Office was opened and called Waratah Bay but was located in Walkerville and later renamed after Walkerville in 1892
1986 The Shallow Inlet Marine and Coastal Park declared in recognition of the area's habitat values, migatory wading birds and shorebirds.
